What is actually moving the battery industry, and who is driving it? That is the question behind Battery Matters, a new quarterly podcast from Battery News and the Volta Foundation. Its first episode, recorded live at The Battery Show Europe in Stuttgart, features Sebastian Wolf, founder, CEO and Chairman of WLF Energy and founder of Wolf x group.
A podcast by two of the industry's networks
The show is hosted by Christoph Lienemann of Battery News and Lauren Allanson, Director of Member Development at the Volta Foundation, the world's largest professional network for the battery industry, with more than 75,000 battery professionals and over 200 member companies. The name is a play on battery materials, on why batteries matter and on the experts behind the microphone.
Every episode follows the same structure: a recap of the previous quarter, the three defining moments of that quarter and an in-depth conversation with a high-profile guest, always recorded live at an industry event. It closes with one prediction, one key event and one highlight to watch next.
Owning the energy stack in Europe
In the conversation, Sebastian Wolf talks about WLF Energy, which made its public debut at the same show, and about the strategy behind it. In the near term, WLF Energy imports battery cells from China to deliver projects quickly, while it develops battery-management and energy-management systems in Europe. He argues that this combination is the fastest route to affordable, sovereign energy infrastructure on the continent.
WLF Energy's launch was built on the acquisitions of Cellovate and VersaPowr and a strategic partnership with Farasis Energy.
Tomorrow Lauren Allanson and I will launch our new Battery Matters Podcast with a great first guest, Sebastian Wolf, who has some big news, live from The Battery Show Europe.
