The morning of 9 June 2026 was the first time WLF Energy spoke to the industry in public. On the stage of The Battery Show Europe in Stuttgart, CEO and Chairman Sebastian Wolf presented a company built around one idea: Europe needs energy companies that own the full value chain, from generation to grid, instead of assembling it from parts bought elsewhere.
WLF Energy was founded in 2026 and belongs to the sustainability part of the Wolf x group portfolio. It did not arrive with a concept alone. On the day of its debut it announced completed acquisitions of VersaPowr, Cellovate and PEM Motion's battery-management unit, a strategic partnership with Farasis Energy and its first commercial work in Europe and the United States.

Europe needs vertically integrated energy companies that own the full value chain, from generation to grid. WLF Energy is building exactly that: fast, clean, and bold.

One company, from cell to grid
Most clean-energy projects in Europe are put together from many suppliers: cells from one company, battery systems from another, software, power electronics and trading from others again. Every hand-over adds integration risk, margin and dependency. WLF Energy's answer is the vertically integrated model successfully deployed by leading Asian energy companies, applied for the first time at scale to European market conditions: one company that designs, builds and operates the whole system.
The goal is concrete. By owning every layer, WLF Energy wants to make clean electricity in Europe cheaper than €0.10 per kilowatt-hour and to make clean power the most affordable form of energy on the continent.
Vertical integration is not just an engineering choice, it is a financial one. By owning the value chain from generation to grid, we strip out the margins, the middlemen and the volatility that have kept clean energy expensive in Europe.

Four technology stacks
The platform is organised in four stacks that work as one operating environment:
- Energy Generation. Production-ready capacity for solar modules, so projects can start with the company's own generation.
- Energy Storage. Battery energy-storage systems for commercial, industrial and utility-scale use, also built on production-ready capacity.
- Energy Management and Distribution. Battery- and energy-management systems, with power conversion added through VersaPowr.
- Energy Intelligence and Optimisation. The digital backbone. Forecasting, predictive asset management and real-time optimisation raise energy yield, extend asset life and let the assets take part in electricity markets.

The battery platform
Through its partnership with Farasis Energy and the integration of Cellovate and PEM Motion's battery-management unit, WLF Energy combines advanced battery technology with its own European battery-management capability and software. According to the company, the platform is designed for:
- more than 25,000 lifetime cycles, depending on the application profile
- discharge rates of up to 50C
- intrinsically safe battery architectures
- AI-supported battery health monitoring and predictive maintenance
- use from utility-scale and commercial sites down to residential installations, fully integrated with WLF Energy's energy-management and optimisation platform
Three building blocks, announced on one day
The debut came with three announcements that each add a layer to the platform.
VersaPowr. In May 2026 WLF Energy completed the acquisition of VersaPowr AS, a specialist in power conversion and energy-management software for utilities and commercial customers in Europe. VersaPowr is being fully integrated into WLF Energy's operations. Read the VersaPowr announcement.

PEM Motion and Cellovate. The battery-management business unit of PEM Motion, spun out of PEM at RWTH Aachen University, and the Cellovate Battery Production Lab joined the platform. They give WLF Energy its own European battery-management system and a path from cell development to market-ready storage products. More on PEM Motion and Cellovate.
Farasis Energy. WLF Energy and Farasis Energy signed a strategic partnership to develop, industrialise and commercialise next-generation battery technologies and energy-storage products for global markets. More on the Farasis partnership.
A vertically integrated energy ecosystem of this kind is unique in Europe. It enables an entirely new way of generating, managing and using energy.

For businesses and for households
The same platform serves two kinds of customers. For businesses, WLF Energy offers an energy platform that brings generation, storage, distribution and market participation under one accountable partner; energy trading in spot, balancing, FCR and capacity markets; long-term power purchase agreements with predictable costs; and asset management that keeps generation and storage running at their best. For consumers, it offers tools to monitor, optimise and control their own energy assets and to take part in energy systems built around distributed generation and storage.
At the heart of our offering is a trading platform spanning both B2B and B2C trading and asset management. By moving beyond the traditional trading approach through the tokenization of energy, we unlock a far wider range of energy-based use cases, many of which we will announce in the months ahead.

First projects
WLF Energy started with commercial work already in place:
- Through VersaPowr, it continues to deploy commercial battery-storage systems for one of Europe's leading automotive retail and rental groups, supporting its energy optimisation and decarbonisation.
- In the United States, it has signed a binding letter of intent to be the exclusive battery-pack provider to an American electric motorcycle company.
- In the Nordics, it has secured a renewable-energy project pipeline of 30 + 95 MW, with first deliveries to the grid expected in the first quarter of 2027.
The people behind it
WLF Energy is led by Sebastian Wolf as CEO and Chairman, together with co-founders Christian F. Ringvold (CFO), Eivind Nilsen (CLO) and Ozgur Ozel (President Türkiye and Middle East). The wider leadership team brings experience from Bosch, PowerCo, Farasis Energy, A123 Systems, McKinsey and Company, Volkswagen and BCG. Prof. Dr. Achim Kampker of PEM at RWTH Aachen University and Aykan Gökbulut of Boston Consulting Group sit on the supervisory board.
Battery and energy management systems are the brains of every clean-energy asset, and Europe cannot afford to depend on others for them. By acquiring and localizing world-class BMS and EMS capabilities, WLF Energy is building this critical intelligence in Europe, for Europe.

Why it matters to us
Wolf x group takes part in companies that work on how energy is stored and used. We see WLF Energy as a clear example: a European company that wants to make clean power cheaper by owning the technology end to end. At the show, Sebastian Wolf was also the first guest of the new Battery Matters podcast, where he explained the strategy in more detail. Read about the podcast.
